A stream which rises in Huntley Wood and then flows south and west into Redesmere where it was dammed in the late eighteenth century to create the lake. In Weirdstone, Chapter 19 – Gaberlunzie, the fugitives found that the floating isle of Angharad Goldenhand had lodged up against the eastern shore of Redesmere, at dawn, just at the point where the Fanshawe Brook fed into the lake. The company then followed the brook eastwards as far as a patch of woodland lying to the north-west of Thorneycroft Hall.
