The journey takes up the central five chapters and consists of approximately one quarter of the book. Matters begin when Colin and Susan rescue Firefrost from under the noses of Selina Place and Grimnir at <a href=\"https:\/\/triskelepublishing.com\/weirdstonewalk\/st-marys-clyffe\/\">St Mary\u2019s Clyffe<\/a>. The children then try to take refuge from the hounds of the Morrigan and accidentally step into an elevator which takes them into the mines. The action can be followed through the following entry on West Mine&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-the-weirdstone-walk wp-block-embed-the-weirdstone-walk\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"qgcQFgjoHe\"><a href=\"https:\/\/triskelepublishing.com\/weirdstonewalk\/west-mine\/\">West Mine<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;West Mine&#8221; &#8212; The Weirdstone Walk\" src=\"https:\/\/triskelepublishing.com\/weirdstonewalk\/west-mine\/embed\/#?secret=O2qPjehIyL#?secret=qgcQFgjoHe\" data-secret=\"qgcQFgjoHe\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/triskelepublishing.com\/weirdstonewalk\/west-mine\/\">West Mine<\/a> the children and their dwarf guides flee into ancient workings known as the Earldelving. Here, it is admitted that Alan Garner perhaps took artistic licence as there does not seem to be a direct connection between West Mine and the other workings on the Edge.
